The best diving is on the Pacific coast, particularly in the Northwestern region of Guanacaste and the Santa Catalina Islands don't disappoint! Situated in front of the Flamingo Beach peninsula, marine life is abundant. In addition to the Pacific Giant Mantas, we also frequently see sharks, turtles, eels, and huge schools of fish.
Level: Easy - Moderate
Visibility: variable, ranging from 20 to 70 ft depending on location, tides and currents. The nutrient rich water, plancton, that attract the big quantity of marine life, could also reduce the visibility.
Temperature: Temperature is variable ranging from 78-86F in green season and 68-74 in dry season. Anyway the water temperature is variable from day to day with termoclines most of the time.
Details: From June to November is the rainy season when hammerhead sharks are more frequent but visibility can be poor. The period from January to March is when you'll most likely see the mantra rays. April and May are also good times to go as it neither too windy nor rainy.
